There’s been a lot of layoffs recently, and by the very nature of what we do, we have even more visibility to them. When one of our past candidates loses their job, they call the recruiters they know – which means you. Don’t get discouraged. At first glance, when you hear about companies decreasing their staff, your inclination might be to worry. Instead, let’s be creative and proactive.
When you hear about a layoff:
- Gather as much information about who will be affected as possible
- Determine who you already have relationships in those organizations
- Could you offer the company outplacement services?
- Could you aggressively approach this organization as a source company?
When a layoff is announced, even those who aren’t being let go are nervous and more apt to speak to one of us. Let’s reach out to everyone in our space who works for these companies. Everyone will be more receptive to your call.
