Prompt Refinement

Sometimes, we find ChatGPT (or any of the others) can have a tendency to be overly verbose and write in a tone that sounds clearly like AI.

The way to overcome this output is through interactive prompting. Once you have your output, further refine it with one of these short prompts:

  1. Make the content more direct and conversational, as if you were talking to someone in person. Avoid jargon.
  2. Adjust the tone to be optimistic yet grounded. Convey hope without making unrealistic promises.
  3. Infuse the text with empathy, showing understanding of the reader’s challenges and emotions. Speak directly to the reader.
  4. Warm up the tone to create a more personal connection with the reader.
  5. Revise for authenticity. Remove clichés and overly polished marketing language. Make it feel more conversational.
  6. Make the language slightly more informal. Use contractions and colloquial phrases where appropriate.
  7. Incorporate simple metaphors to illustrate points, but avoid overly poetic language.
  8. Convey confidence and expertise without boasting. Remove any grandiose claims.
  9. Adjust the pacing by varying sentence length. Mix short, punchy sentences with longer, detailed ones.
  10. Incorporate more sensory details to make the description more vivid and engaging.
  11. Add rhetorical questions to encourage reader engagement and reflection.
  12. Introduce more transition phrases to improve the flow between paragraphs and ideas.
  13. Strengthen the call-to-action elements. Make it clear what steps the reader should take next.
  14. Adjust the tone to be more authoritative while maintaining approachability.
  15. Incorporate more data or statistics to support key points, but present them in an easily digestible way. Do supporting research for up-to-date information on this topic.
  16. Revise for a more balanced perspective, acknowledging potential counterarguments or limitations.
  17. Enhance the use of active voice to make the writing more dynamic and engaging.
  18. Incorporate humor or wit where appropriate to make the text more engaging and memorable.
  19. Include thought-provoking questions or challenges to stimulate critical thinking in the reader.
  20. Incorporate power words and persuasive language to make the text more compelling and motivating.
  21. Balance the tone to be both professional and approachable, ensuring the text is respectful yet friendly.
  22. Focus on clarity and precision, removing any ambiguity to ensure the message is easily understood.
